The project I am working on deals with how trades and trading work at our firm. So there are a lot of people from those areas on the project.

Tomorrow is a little IPO of a company you might know of...FACEBOOK. So those people basically said to us...Haha..no meetings for you...we are probably going to be working like crazy tomorrow because of the anticipated increase in volume thanks to that little FB IPO.

I'm starting a thread about rare and odd computer problems. We've all encountered idiotic things that happen with computers and have spent hours googling.

Let's share what we've learned and maybe save some headaches.

Here's the first one.

I?m running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and my sound suddenly stopped working over the weekend. Neither the playback or recording devices were working. There were no errors in Device Manager and Windows reported everything working correctly. My Network and Sharing Center was also unresponsive even though I was online.

After a lot of online searching, registry edits, and performing an ?upgrade in place? of Windows, I found a solution. The link below has several suggestions, but I?ve supplied the fix that worked for me here.

After a reboot my audio works again as well as my network and sharing center.
